Over 47,000 cabbies adopt Octopus, card readers ahead of e-payment deadline
More than 47,000 taxi drivers have adopted the commercial version of the Octopus app or equipped their cabs with mobile card readers ahead of new electronic payment regulations taking effect in Hong Kong on Wednesday, transport authorities have said. More than 47,000 taxi drivers have adopted the commercial version of the Octopus app or equipped their cabs with mobile card readers ahead of new electronic payment regulations taking effect in Hong Kong on Wednesday, transport authorities have said.
The new measures require cab drivers to provide at least two e-payment options, as part of a broader government push to modernise the industry’s image and service quality.
The Transport Department on Tuesday said three dedicated service stations at government car parks in Sheung Wan, Kwai Fong and Tsuen Wan would remain open until Saturday to provide last-minute support.
It said more than 3,000 cabbies had already booked appointments to ensure compliance with the regulations.
Chau Kwok-keung, chairman of the Hong Kong Taxi and Public Light Bus Association, said that cabbies were ready to step into the new era of digital payment.
“The association has been working tirelessly to train elderly drivers in digital payment systems,” he said.

Unnoticed Gemma-4 Feature - it admits that it does not now...
Edit: "it admits that it does not know" (sorry for the TYPO!) Although Qwen3.5 is a great series of models, it is prone to make very broad assumptions/hallucinate stuff and it does it with a great confidence, so you may believe what it says. In contrast, Gemma-4 (specifically I tested E4b Q8 version) admits that it does not know right at the start of conversation: Therefore, I cannot confirm familiarity with a single, specific research study by that name. However, I am generally familiar with the factors that researchers and military trainers study regarding attrition in elite training programs... That is very important feature and it may hint to changing model training routine, where admitting to not know stuff is penalized less than trying to guess and then fail. submitted by /u/mtomas7

I Let AI Coding Agents Build My Side Projects for a Month — Here's My Honest Take
Last month I ran an experiment: instead of writing code myself, I delegated as much as possible to AI coding agents. Not just autocomplete — full autonomous agents that read files, run commands, and ship features. I've been running a home lab (Mac Mini M4 + a Windows PC with GPUs + an Ubuntu box) for a while now, and I already had my dev workflow automated with AI agents . But this time I pushed further: what if the agents didn't just help me code, but actually wrote the code? Here's what happened. The Setup I used a mix of tools: Claude Code (CLI) — my go-to for complex, multi-file tasks Codex (OpenAI) — good for one-shot generation with clear specs Local models via Ollama — for quick iterations without burning API credits The workflow: I'd describe what I wanted in plain English, point t

AI Transformation in German SMEs: McKinsey Data Shows Up to 10x ROI from Strategic AI Integration
Düsseldorf, 5 April 2026 — Current data from the McKinsey Global Institute ( The State of AI , March 2025) confirms: companies that deploy AI technologies strategically and process-integrated achieve on average USD 3.70 in value creation per dollar invested — with top performers reaching USD 10.30 per dollar, representing returns of 270 to over 930 percent. At the same time, current surveys by Bitkom ( Artificial Intelligence in Germany , 2025) show that only 36 percent of German companies are operationally using AI — meaning enormous potential remains untapped. Marco Weber, CEO of Dynamic Support AG, explains why this discrepancy represents one of the largest untapped productivity reserves in the German economy — and how a structured AI transformation strategy closes it. The Real Ceiling in Claude Code's Memory System (It’s Not the 200-Line Cap)
Someone published the full Claude Code source to the internet last week. 512,000 lines of TypeScript across 1,916 files. Like everyone else, we went straight for the memory system. But unlike the analyses making the rounds, we didn't stop at the index file. We read the entire memory pipeline: the extraction agent, the dream consolidation system, the forked agent pattern, the lock files, the feature flags, the prompt templates, all of it. Here's the full picture, including the parts nobody else is talking about, and why replacing the storage layer alone doesn't fix the actual problem. The architecture is smarter than people think Most of the commentary has focused on the 200-line index cap in MEMORY.md and declared the system broken. That's a surface read. The architecture underneath is gen

Automating Your Urban Farm with AI: From Guesswork to Precision
For the small-scale market gardener, planning is a high-stakes puzzle. You're juggling succession schedules, yield forecasts, and market demand, all while the weather keeps changing the rules. It's exhausting, and a miscalculation can mean lost income or wasted harvest. The Core Principle: A Dynamic Feedback Loop The key to effective AI automation is moving from a static plan to a dynamic feedback loop . Your system should continuously compare your plan against real-world data—weather, crop performance, and sales—and automatically adjust forecasts and trigger actions. This turns your historical farm data from a simple record into a predictive engine. Your Central Tool: The Digital Crop Library At the heart of this is your Digital Crop Library . This isn't just a list of seeds; it's a livin
