Software-update - Snagit 2026.1.1
Hi there, little explorer! Imagine you have a magic camera that can take pictures of anything you see on your computer screen! 📸✨
This magic camera is called "Snagit." And guess what? It just got a little update, like when your favorite toy gets new batteries and can do even cooler things! 🔋
Now, Snagit can still take pictures of games, stories, or even your drawings on the computer. And you can still draw arrows or circles on them, like when you point to something important. 🖍️
The new part is like giving Snagit a special new super-power to read words in pictures even better! So, it's ready for more fun adventures with you! Yay! 🎉
What's New in 2026.1.1

How to Write Custom Semgrep Rules: Complete Tutorial
Why write custom Semgrep rules Semgrep ships with over 2,800 community rules and 20,000+ Pro rules that cover common security vulnerabilities, best practice violations, and correctness issues across more than 30 programming languages. For many teams, these pre-built rule sets are enough to catch the most critical problems. But every codebase has patterns, APIs, and conventions that are unique to its organization - and that is where custom rules become essential. Custom Semgrep rules let you codify institutional knowledge into automated checks. When a senior engineer discovers a subtle misuse of an internal API, they can write a rule that catches that mistake everywhere it appears and prevents it from being introduced again. When your security team identifies a vulnerability pattern specifi

A Laravel Developer's Production Security Checklist (2026 Edition)
Shipping a Laravel application to production is exhilarating. Watching real users interact with something you built is one of the best feelings in software development. But that excitement can quickly turn to dread if you haven't locked down your server and application against the constant barrage of automated scans, brute-force attempts, and zero-day exploits that every internet-facing service faces within minutes of going live. This checklist is designed for Laravel developers deploying in 2026. It covers the full stack, from the infrastructure layer up through the application itself, and highlights where Deploynix handles security concerns for you out of the box. HTTPS Everywhere There is no excuse for serving any page over plain HTTP in 2026. Search engines penalize unencrypted sites,

Get 30K more context using Q8 mmproj with Gemma 4
Hey guys, quick follow up to my post yesterday about running Gemma 4 26B. I kept testing and realized you can just use the Q8_0 mmproj for vision instead of F16. There is no quality drop, and it actually performed a bit better in a few of my tests (with --image-min-tokens 300 --image-max-tokens 512). You can easily hit 60K+ total context with an FP16 cache and still keep vision enabled. Here is the Q8 mmproj I used : https://huggingface.co/prithivMLmods/gemma-4-26B-A4B-it-F32-GGUF/blob/main/GGUF/gemma-4-26B-A4B-it.mmproj-q8_0.gguf Link to original post (and huge thanks to this comment for the tip!). Quick heads up: Regarding the regression on post b8660 builds, a fix has already been approved and will be merged soon. Make sure to update it after the merge. submitted by /u/Sadman782 [link]

Claude Code 101: Introduction to Agentic Programming
Software development as we know it The era of AI assistance From assistant to agent The agentic tooling ecosystem Agentic programming: the paradigm shift Final thoughts 🇧🇷 Leia em Português September 2025. I was leading a critical dependency upgrade on a mobile app with millions of users. The kind of change that breaks tests in a cascade. The deadline was October: if it wasn't ready, the app wouldn't ship to the store. The problem: nearly 10,000 tests needed to be adapted for the new version. Code owned by over 20 teams, spread across hundreds of modules. I thought "what if I give these AI tools everyone keeps talking about a real shot?" After watching a few videos and reading the docs, I spun up four terminals running Claude Code in parallel, each one migrating a slice of the tests. One
