Jonas Geiping awarded the German Pattern Recognition Award 2025

Geiping was awarded the German Pattern Recognition Award 2025 for his outstanding scientific contributions in the area of Understanding of Safety, Security, and Efficiency in Modern Pattern Recognition.

Jonas’s research focuses on building systems that reason well without sacrificing safety while maintaining efficiency. At the ELLIS Institute Tübingen, his group Safety- and Efficiency- aligned Learning (SEAL) researches the enhancement of reasoning abilities of models and the effect of computational constraints on safety guarantees. He is co-affiliated with the Tübingen AI Center as well as the Max-Planck-Institute for Intelligent Systems. Before joining the ELLIS Institute Tübingen, he spent time at the University of Maryland and the University of Siegen.
