<p>Adds a Python decomposition for <code>aten.hann_window</code> (all four overloads: <code>.default</code>, <code>.periodic</code>, <code>.out</code>, <code>.periodic_out</code>) so that Inductor can lower calls to <code>torch.hann_window</code> without hitting <code>MissingOperatorWithoutDecomp</code>.</p> <p>Formula: w[n] = 0.5 - 0.5 * cos(2π * n / (N-1))<br> where N = window_length + 1 for periodic=True (STFT use case)<br> N = window_length for periodic=False (symmetric window)</p> <p>Also registers <code>aten.hann_window</code> in <code>torch/_inductor/decomposition.py</code> so Inductor picks up the decomposition automatically</p> <p>Pull Request resolved: <a class="issue-link js-issue-link" data-error-text="Failed to load title" data-id="4106312372" data-permission-text="Title is pr

I wore Meta’s smartglasses for a month – and it left me feeling like a creep
<p>Content creators love the built-in camera; sceptics call them ‘pervert glasses’. Do we really need any more hi-tech wearables, even with a voice assistant that sounds like Judi Dench?</p><p>Lately, I’ve been hearing Judi Dench’s voice in my head. She tells me tomorrow’s forecast, when to turn right, that there’s been another message in my group chat. Day or night, Dame Judi is eager to assist. When I ask the eight-time Academy Award nominee what I’m looking at, she answers: a residential area, a person in a pub, daffodils. “They are a bright yellow colour and are often associated with spring.”</p><p>This isn’t a delusion. This is, apparently, progress. I am test-driving Meta’s smartglasses and Dench voices its integrated AI assistant: “Here to chat, answer questions, create images and p

Meta will fund seven new natural gas plants to power its biggest data center yet
Meta will essentially foot the power bill for the $27 billion mega data center it's building in Louisiana. On Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company struck a deal to fund the energy infrastructure needed for the project. Through a deal with Entergy Louisiana, Meta will fund seven new natural gas power plants, 240 miles of transmission lines and battery energy storage at three locations. The gas plants will have a combined power output of 5,200 megawatts, and the transmission lines will operate at 500 kilovolts. In addition, the company will help fund up to 2,500 MW of new renewable resources. It also agreed to a memorandum of understanding for future nuclear power development. The 4-million-square-foot Richland Parish, LA, data center will be Meta's biggest yet . It's cu
50 years of Apple pushing tech forward, for better or worse
Over the last 50 years, Apple reimagined personal computers, catalyzed the era of the smartphone, enlarged an iPhone and called it the iPad and garnered a strong position in wearable tech through its Watch series and its AirPods. It also popularized software and services like its App Store, FaceTime, iCloud, iMessages and many more. For a lot of us, the first time we pinched-to-zoom on a photo was likely on an iPhone. However, Apple gives and it takes away. Things have had to change, be removed and consumers have to move on to whatever's new. For better or worse, the weight of Apple's influence has led to entire product categories following suit. Or, more typically, there's resistance, complaining and then… following suit. With the benefit of hindsight, most of these cases are examples of
