Industry Practitioners Perspectives on AI Model Quality: Perceptions, Challenges, and Solutions
arXiv:2402.16391v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now used across nearly every industry, making AI model quality essential for building reliable and trustworthy systems. Historically, correctness has been the main focus, but industry AI models must also satisfy many other important quality attributes. To understand how these attributes are perceived, the challenges they create, and the solutions used in practice, we identify nine key quality attributes and interview 15 AI practitioners from diverse backgrounds. The interviews show that practitioners prioritize attributes differently depending on context. For example, efficiency can matter more than correctness in real-time applications, while scalability and deployability are no longer seen as primary conc

The Periodic Table of AI Architecture: Assigning Clear Roles to Scattered AI Findings
A speculative but highly insightful conceptual framework for AI architecture A Mini Textbook for AI Engineers on Structure, Flow, Trace, and Residual Governance.pdf just released on Open Science Framework for public review. This mini-textbook, with detail tutorial notes, offers a unified lens for thinking about intelligent systems — moving beyond “just scale more” toward structured coordination under real limits . It treats advanced AI not as an all-knowing predictor, but as bounded observers that extract stable structure from noisy reality while leaving a governable residual (ambiguity, fragility, and unresolved parts). At its core is a clean grammar built around: Maintained Structure vs. Active Flow Adjudication (separating the viable from the merely possible) Semantic time (event-define
When AI Talks Back: Navigating Unexpected Responses from Gemini in Google Workspace
Within the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, our interactions with advanced tools like Google Gemini are continually becoming more sophisticated. However, alongside this technological advancement, unexpected moments can sometimes arise, prompting us to gain a deeper understanding of the subtle nuances in AI behavior. A recent discussion thread within the Google Gemini support forum brought one such surprising exchange to public attention, underscoring the critical importance of mindful interaction and the use of effective prompting, particularly within a professional Google Workspace environment. The Incident: A Frustrated User and Gemini's Unexpected Reply The core of the issue originated from the frustration experienced by a Power BI intern. This user had assigned Ge

Pakistan’s peace plan a ‘critical opportunity’ for US-Iran talks ahead of Trump deadline
As US President Donald Trump’s Tuesday deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz approached, Pakistan put forward a fresh proposal for an immediate ceasefire on Monday, offering what one analyst described as “a critical opportunity” for talks. The plan was brokered through overnight contacts between Pakistani army chief Asim Munir, US officials including Vice-President J.D. Vance and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to Reuters. It called for an immediate halt to hostilities...

[PokeClaw] First working app that uses Gemma 4 to autonomously control an Android phone. Fully on-device, no cloud.
PokeClaw - A Pocket Version of OpenClaw Most "private" AI assistants are private because the company says so. PokeClaw is private because there's literally no server component. The AI model runs on your phone's CPU. There's no cloud endpoint. You can block the app from the internet entirely and it works the same. It runs Gemma 4 on-device using LiteRT and controls your phone through Android Accessibility. You type a command, the AI reads the screen, decides what to tap, and executes. Works with any app. I built this because I wanted a phone assistant that couldn't spy on me even if it wanted to. Not because of a privacy policy, but because of architecture. There's nowhere for the data to go. First app I've found that does fully local LLM phone control — every other option I checked either
